Making it Happen - Like a Woman.

Gender bias in the workplace was quite apparent when I began my career, but it was what it was. I put up with it, but I didn’t let it stop me from pursuing the life I wanted to live.

I’ve been curious my entire life about places, people, and cultures, so I naturally gravitated to photography as a profession because it gave me access to a lifestyle of travel and exploration. Later in my career I got into filmmaking because it allowed me to tell the stories I wanted to tell that needed sound and movement.

Over the last couple of years, I’ve been creating short videos about women who are working in male-dominated professions. Because of some cultural shifts in the last few years, I was encouraged recently, create a feature length documentary around the stories of these women, adding stories of more women, including my own.

As I embark on the process of making this film a reality, I’m reminded why it’s been eight years since I made my last film, Opening Our Eyes. It’s a lot of work! One thing that was needed was a dedicated website, and I’m happy to say It’s completed - at least for the first stage. Please take a look at it and give me your feedback. More importantly, let me know if you know of any kick-ass women that would be great subjects for Like A Woman!

Sign up for updates. I’ll be looking for an editor and someone to create the key art - so, stay tuned.
